School Health Event – Mfolozi High School – 14 October 2025

In celebration of the National School Health Week, 9 – 15 October 2025, PHISA Foundation launched its first Annual School Health Campaign on the 14th October 2025 in Mfolozi High School, which is situated in Zululand District of KwaZulu-Natal South Africa.

In this event, various partners and stakeholders were engaged to ensure success and impact of health promotion. The local health department, school governance members, educators, learners and the community partnered with PHISA Foundation in discussing topical health issues such as chronic illnesses, infectious diseases, reproductive health, mental health as well as various unhealthy behaviours affecting the youth and school community in general.

Five (5) learners selected from the senior Life Sciences class each gave a presentation on topics: Patient Rights, Patient Responsibilities, Diet and Nutrition, Reproductive Health and Unhealthy Behaviour. Each of the five learners received PHISA Foundation’s generous financial reward for their efforts and insightful presentations. School learners used the opportunity to learn about healthy behaviours and values necessary for good health and wellbeing. The school community was mobilized to prioritize health and to implement sustainable programs to promote school health. Partnership between the school and local providers of health services, in particular the health department, was encouraged.
